"toxic gumbo"Hurricane Katrina has left her mark on the City of New Orleans. Not only did this storm leave thousands without power and homeless, but the “toxic gumbo” also left a lasting reminder to the city. This “toxic gumbo” was the flood water that just sat in the city for almost two weeks. All kinds of chemicals leaked into the flood waters leaving a film and muddy residue everywhere the water went. As you drive around in New Orleans, even still today, you can look for the flood lines. I like to call it “living in a toilet bowl,” because everywhere you look there is a ring around the side. Some buildings have cleaned up and repaired, yet many are still left in shambles. These markings have landed on just about everything, and everything in this poster.  |
